The jungle was hot and really sticky. Rain did not like coming here a lot, but she wanted to get food while she could. She was almost out and had to get more. Plus, she didn't know what kind of food would be in the new worlds, so had to prepare. The river looked clean, but Rain knew it might not be safe. So she made a fire to boil it. She had a small metal pot on a wire rack. She was supposed to use it for sand for her forging, but she used it to boil water too. She sat down by it and took off her sweater because it was too hot. Then she took out all her fruits from her bag, and a tray. She brushed them off, and started peeling them with her knife while she waited for the water to boil. She heard a noise and looked up in surprise when she saw a stranger. "Oh. Hello there." |

and they run when the sun comes up | This wasn't like the forests back home, and Tao had yet to really reach a conclusion on how he felt about it. It was hot and Tao could feel himself sweating but he wasn't sure if he hated it or not. Conditions could be worse and he had yet to really run into anything dangerous. Though he had tripped over a rather large snake earlier. It hadn't really seemed to care though, mostly because it probably didn't even notice him, and it looked like it was already digesting something quite large. Which should have unsettled him but it at least meant it would leave him alone.
Unfortunately Tao was hot and his clothes weren't really built for heat, so the sound of running water drew him in. He could definitely go for some water right now, and that itself was inticing enough and maybe if the water was safe he could go for a swim. Alligators and things like that are a thing here though aren't they? A concern for later. Animals he could handle. Heartless were another thing.
He pushed through the brush, and he spotted the girl just as she seemed to spot him, and he found himself frowning ever so slightly, hand moving to grab the hilt of his blade.
”Hello there.”
She didn't seem aggressive but Tao wasn't about to let his guard drop, and he let his eyes move over her quickly, looking for any obvious weapons. ”You don't look like you're from around here,” he said shortly, not really making room for idle conversation.

Rain saw his hand drifting to his weapon. But she already had a knife in her hand where she was peeling the fruit. It was only five inches long though. Her two belts did not have the knives in them, and her tonguns were crossed to the side of her. She tilted her head, and smiled. "Neither do you."She looked back at her fruit and kept twisting it to peel it. She wanted to pretend like she was not concerned, but Rain kept an eye on him in her peripheral. She mentally went over all her blocks. She wanted to be prepared if he tried anything. "I'm Rain. What's your name?" |

and they run when the sun comes up | The girl had a small knife on her person, it wasn't something Tao was entirely concerned with though. If she tried to stab him a sword was more likely to be able to cause more damage and while Tao didn't completely let his guard down he did lower his hand from the hilt of his blade to look around the rest of the area carefully, making sure there wasn't anybody else who could approach. Of course someone who was really planning on sneaking up on him would do it skillfully and quietly, and would do their best not to be seen, but still.
”I'm not from here,” he said simply. Where he was from didn't matter. It was obvious enough from what he was wearing and the lack of civilization here that he definitely was not a native. He had no real intentions of telling the brunette of just where he had come from though, because it didn't matter and honestly it just seemed like work.
Rain was her name, and for a moment Tao found himself frowning at her thoughtfully, watching her as she peeled the fruit she was holding in her hand. ”Tao Lee,” he said slowly. ”What are you doing here? It isn't particularly safe.”

So he was from China after all, like his clothes made Rain assume. She had spent enough time there that she referred to the world the same way the natives did. She looked once and saw he did not have his hand on his weapon. She relaxed. "Stocking up. I'll be traveling to a new world soon, so I'd like to take some food with me, just in case. No one minds if I take some for myself. I'll be heading to Agrabah to dry them, once I'm done washing and salting them."She had a jar out, and peeled the fruit in chips to leave them there. Then she cut the fruit in thin slices and put them in the jar too. She checked the water and saw it was boiling. She took the pot off the wire rack with her sweater. "But if you're hungry, I can spare a couple. I think I got most of the good ones around here." She tilted her head. "Would you like one?" |
